On our trip to the Finger Lakes we tasted a lot of wine, beer, and spirits. There were several places that were recommended to us to visit, Wagner Winery and Brewery being one of them. We stopped here in the late afternoon. Brad tasted the brews first and I followed by tasting the wines. If I am remembering correctly there was a cost for both tastings but you received a coupon from the wine tasting. Brad ended up going home with a mixed 6 pack of their beer. He was a little disappointed though because his favorite one was only available on the tap. I tried several sweet wines but didn’t taste anything that I had to have. He ended up leaving with a 6 pack and a t-shirt!
Another place that came recommended was Three Brother’s Winery. This place was very interesting but on the more commercialized side. They had several very different areas all with very different things. They offered hard cider as well. Their wines were divided up as what I would consider more traditional, “girly”, and “off the beaten path”. The photo above shows the area for what I would consider the “off the beaten” path wines. You walked back a path to a shack where this wine tasting was. Back on the main campus there was a building with the more traditional wines and another that houses the “girly” wines and the hard ciders. They had a small cafe where we got a pizza for lunch. It was pretty good! Brad again walked away with some hard cider. There were a few wines that were good but they were pricier than a lot of other wineries. I didn’t purchase anything here because of this.
I don’t actually remember the name of this winery/brewery. We were a little deceived by this place. It was listed on the wine trail map as a winery/brewery but when we got there we found out this is a satellite branch and they didn’t have much to taste. The location was beautiful though! Brad tasted a few beers and then we headed out. They have weddings and events here. The property was right along the lake so we walked down to the dock to check it out. Very pretty!
Climbing Bines was very interesting. They started by selling hops. Now they have to purchase hops because they are making too much beer! Their property was really cool and they had some interesting beers. Brad did a small flight here. Everything was very funky and cool. Their beer was pretty good too!
We stopped at an old firehouse that was turned into a tasting room. We found out that they didn’t make anything there – they offered tastings of several local wineries and breweries. It was interesting. Brad tried the beers, ciders, and spirits that they offered. They had half of a fire truck inside. This would be a cool place to stop and have a drink since there was a lot of selection. No AC here though!
Starkey’s Lookout was the most relaxing place we visited. They had a brewery and a winery and a really awesome deck! We each got our tastings and were able to enjoy them looking out over Seneca Lake. We relaxed here for awhile. We didn’t love anything enough to purchase anything here though. It was really nice to sit and relax and both be able to drink something!
